There’s an interesting betting opportunity in the 4.02 pm at Yarmouth with Grey Soul, a three-year-old trained by Roger Varian. This colt is poised for a potential breakthrough in the La Continental Café Of Great Yarmouth Handicap.

Grey Soul’s recent form, finishing in the 5th, 6th, 4th, and 8th, might not look spectacular at first glance, but it’s worth noting he was still learning and inexperienced early on. Gelded after three starts, he raced quite green at Southwell last time, where he finished with plenty of running left despite the race being run at a steady pace. That’s often a good sign that he’s capable of much better once he levels out and gets some confidence.
Now returning to turf, the hope is that he’ll show a marked improvement. The drop back onto grass, combined with the experience he’s gained, suggests he could well step forward and make his first career win. Trainer Roger Varian has a strong record of developing young horses, so this looks like a good chance for Grey Soul to get off the mark.
