Today’s highlight at the Curragh is the prestigious Blandford Stakes, a fiercely competitive race featuring a showdown between the promising three-year-old Red Letter and the four-year-old One Look. Despite giving weight to the younger filly, my pick leans towards the experienced One Look as the likely winner.

Red Letter showcased her potential when narrowly winning the Snow Fairy Stakes over 9f here last month on good ground. She relished the fast pace and powered her finishing effort late, suggesting a step up in distance will suit her even more. The step back in ground conditions doesn’t pose a problem for this daughter of Frankel, and with Colin Keane back in the saddle, she’s a serious contender.

However, we’re siding with One Look, who has been steadily progressing and is now firmly in the spotlight after her recent victory in the Meadow Court Stakes over this course and distance back in July. Wathnan Racing has recently acquired her, and the rain since her last run has only added to her appeal, potentially helping her cope with slower ground. She’s able to overcome a modest draw in nine, and with James Doyle riding for the first time, she’s primed for another big effort.
