🌪️ The Guvnor’s Nap:
We’re off to HQ for today’s nap. Godolphin rock up mob-handed in the Group 3 at 3:35 with three youngsters, but the one to keep onside is DISTANT STORM – Buick’s pick of the bunch and a colt with serious gears.
He made a cracking debut on the July course, cruising home clear of Catullus (also lines up today). That form looks better every week – the runner-up Constitution River is already being talked up for next year’s Classics, and even Oxagon, who finished way back, nearly landed a Group 2 at Doncaster.
At York last time, things didn’t go to plan. Backed like defeat was impossible, he pulled Buick’s arms out for half the race and blew his chance, fading into third. Forget that run – it told us more about his keenness than his ability.
Today’s scenario is perfect: stronger pace to settle him, Buick sticking solid, and a track where we already know he can deliver. Main dangers? Stellar Sunrise (tough customer, but up in grade) and stablemate Catullus. But make no mistake – if Storm relaxes early, the rest could be chasing shadows.
