One at Worcester Looks Saucy

Today’s 14:40 at Worcester looks an intriguing race, and I’ve got my eye on a couple of interesting runners. Henry Box Brown has been knocking on the door in recent starts over 2m4f, finishing as the runner-up twice here. He’s definitely looking ready for a step up in trip, but with rain forecast, I’m latching onto a more promising alternative.
That horse is Ivane, who, despite not yet winning beyond two-and-a-half miles, showed his stamina when finishing second over an extended three miles on hurdles when trained in Ireland. Now with James Owen’s yard, Ivane is reverting to fences after a solid third over 2m4f at Bangor earlier this year. The trainer is optimistic, especially with Sean Bowen aboard for the first time.

Ivane’s best chase effort came back in April at Fontwell over 2m3f+, when he finished second on a 3lbs lower mark. The factors swinging in his favor—shorter break, a step up in trip, and a top jockey booking—make me think a big run is on the cards.

Look out for this one making a strong impression.
