A nice winner yesterday, after a slow start to September, I’m hopeful the tide is turning—and today’s pick might keep some momentum going.
Today’s bet is at Sandown in the 5:25pm with Fast Steps taking center stage. The maiden Caspian King, has been a bit unlucky as a favourite lately — he’s been second-best twice out of his last three runs. But he’s definitely got the goods to win a race, especially if he’s a bit more chilled than he was at Chelmsford last time. It could be interesting to see if his supporters try to bounce back and give it another try.
Fast Steps is actually a course and distance winner, and he’s racing from a slightly higher mark. He gave a good account at Epsom recently, stretching his stamina to the max over the 12f trip. That was the third time his connections have targeted the amateur riders’ Derby with their seven-year-old, who’s now pretty much at his lowest mark ever.

The conditions — 10f on some easy ground — look perfect for him. Plus, he’s got a good draw, which is always a plus. The Rod Millman team have been on a bit of a roll lately, scoring four wins from their last twenty-five runners.
+++At 10/1 and 4 places available with many firms, he’s definitely a must-watch each-way bet — at a decent double-figure price+++ Recommended bet: 1.5 points EW Fast Steps - 17:25 Sandown (10/1 - 4 places) 18+ Always Bet Responsibly!
