Double Bubble This Monday!

Monday Thoughts...

Right, folks — bit of a dilemma for me today. Couldn’t split ‘em, not for love nor money, so you’re getting a double2 nap (yes, that’s right — two naps for the price of one!).

🏇 4:25 Stratford – The Expensive One

Now this looks a tidy little opportunity for Nico de Boinville, who’s making his return to the saddle after quite a long spell out. Just the one ride for him today — and that’s on THE EXPENSIVE ONE for Nigel and Willie Twiston-Davies. Always a good sign when a top jockey makes the trip for one.

This Harzand gelding is making his handicap debut off 106, and I reckon there’s still plenty more to come. He was awarded a race in the stewards’ room at Newton Abbot last September, then had nearly a year off before running second at Worcester last month — sent off short, just found one too good in Caelan from the Olly Murphy yard.

With that run under his belt and Nico back in the irons, I fancy him to go one better and get the lad on the scoresheet nice and early this season.

🐎 5:25 Pontefract – Tiriac

Now onto the second half of the double nap — and this one’s TIRIAC, who goes in the Pertemps Supports Autism In Racing Handicap over at Pontefract.

Jason Hart's mount has got a bit of a wide draw to deal with, but the ground’s come right for him and he’s been knocking on the door. Last time out at Beverley he was boxed in for most of the last two furlongs and still managed to finish in the frame. Unlucky not to go very close, to be honest.

He hasn’t got his head in front since May last year, but he’s now 7lb below that winning mark — and I reckon it’s only a matter of time before he pops up again. Today could well be the day.

Plus… 0.5pt EACH-WAY DOUBLE (Currently around 13.5 on Bet365 — worth using them as they’re paying 4 places in Tiriac’s race). Couldn’t split the pair today, but both look primed to go close. Let’s hope the double nap delivers a nice little Monday boost.
